You are probably wondering why I call myself a poet with lens…

I am Elsa/Jiayu Grace Guo, and my hoping-to-become-a-National-Geographic-photographer-but-never-happened journey began in 2023.

Doing photography is really like writing a poem, at least for me. You know when you get filled with all kinds of emotion that you don’t even know how to sort them out or make them realistic, there are people who writes poems to verbalize them. As for me, since I don’t write that well(but really think being a poet is cool), lenses become my pens and frames become my journal.

Photography is not only lights and colors. I don’t only see things when I look at my photos. I smell them, I feel them, I hear them. And maybe thats why I think saying I’m a poet with lens is the most accurate way of describing me and photography. Poets get to write down the five senses they experienced and put into poems, and I do too, I get to use a camera.
